I'm just finding out out this info right now so there could be more news as i type this but so far what has been anounced at SE's event that taking place over the weekend is as follows:

A demo for FFXIII has been confirmed and will be released with the Advent Children complete DVD but that'll be released in march 2009

FF Agito XIII is no longer being just released for mobile/cell phones, it is also now being released for the PSP as well. So we'll be able to see it outside Japan now.

Alright, it's not FF news but i'm happy hearing this: Parasite Eve 3 is being released! While i'd prefer it was coming out for the PS3, it's being confirmed for the PSP.

Dissidia is being released in Japan in December this year.

FF Versus XIII is a definite world-wide PS3 exclusive SE confirms.

Other non FF related news: Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is being sometime in 2009, i don't know anymore then that unfortunately.

FFXIII is definitely being released in 2009.

I think after this anouncement, it's safe to say: Ladies and Gentlemen, the PSP has arrived.

Advent children is one of the best movies i've ever seen. i've seen it in english and japanese :) both times it is amazin in japanese we had english subs so it was still great :D. and we didn't have to watch it on a psp either. we had DVDs :D :D :D

Actually it is'nt parasite eve 3....it is just a spinoff called
"The 3rd birthday" yes it is for psp but it isn't on UMD....you can't buy it you must download it from the web......
the story is Aya and her team are called into CTI:new york because monsters called twisted are wreaking havoc and they have to kill them........it doesn't sound like anything speacial to me but maybe you might think differently.....

Sorry Masamune, you're wrong about that. Although it has been termed the 3rd birthday, for all intents and purposes IS Parasite Eve 3. I don't know where you heard the stuff about it not being on UMD but that's completely wrong. It's most definitely a regular UMD game now after its originally planned release for mobile/cell phones.

I want to here the shocking announcement.

I've heard rumors the announcement is something Sony-related. (FFVII for PS3? 0.o)

Update: Funny news, I heard that FF Versus will be sponsored by a Japanese fashion brand. I'm not even joking.

Hey, FF7 had a J Pop Artist as a main character. Video Games and other medias cross over a ton.

Nah, don't look at wiki. That place is at best unreliable considering anyone can come along and alter info whenever they want.
As for the shocking announcement, it would seem we've already had it: The FFXIII demo is the shocking announcement unfortunately as it turns out. No remake is on the horizon anytime soon.

So how is Sony put on the spotlight.

Sony have been put in the spotlight because: All the games announced for the PSP plus as you have to take into account this is a Japanese function and therefore aimed toward the Japanese consumer, the fact that the demo is for the PS3 version of FFXIII is why the spotlight is on Sony.

I think the announcement was Agito XIII for PSP. I've also heard rumors that FFXIII will be in USA/Europe by December 2009.
