Forum Rules (READ FIRST)

Postby Scorpicus on Thu Dec 13, 2007 6:18 pm

Hey guys, welcome to the forums! Before you get posting, make sure you read through the forum rules.

1. Play nice.

No noob bashing, sexual harrasment, flame wars yadda, yadda, yadda. Treat other users with repect.

2. Post in English, using correct spelling and grammer.

That way you can come across as the suave and sophisticated individual you've always wanted to be. Monkey speak is for pre teens using MSN.

3. We do not support Warez or other illegal content.

In other words, I don't want to see threads asking "Where can I download Final Fantasy VII for free?" and other such discussion. Let's keep it legal, people.

4. No trick links to malacious sites/content.

5. Swearing is allowed.

Let's face it, you all lost your innocence a long time ago - show it proudly!

6. No spam.

AKA advertisement and utterly pointless posts designed to solely raise your post count. No one wants to read it.

7. Don't quote obsessively.

Honestly guys, why quote someone who just posted right above you? It's pointless, people will know what you're talking about, they don't need to see what they read two seconds ago! We are not goldfish.

Also, don't quote a huge post just to add a sentance. You can quote posts, but only quote the bits that are most important. Chop the rest of it out. This way we can keep the forum asthetically pleasing and uncluttered.

8. Sensible thread titles.

Keeps the forum tidy and let's everyone find what they want. "funny vid" and "SOMEONE HELP ME" being examples of bad thread names. Be specific and, dare I say it, witty with what you name your threads.

9. Don't post huge (400 x 400 roughly) pictures in threads - link to them instead.

Remember, not everyone has broadband - I'm on a fairly slow connection myself. Linking to pictures instead of embedding them in the thread allows everyone who wants to see them; see them while not making people with dial up spend ages loading up the thread only to find they couldn't care less about the content. Be considerate. Link.

10. Stay on topic.

Let's not have a thread on Sephiroth lead onto watersports. Seriously though, let's try to stay on topic. It's better to start a new thread than to vaguely link you're question/request/whatever onto someone elses thread.

11. Don't make a post with more smileys than words in it!

Part of intellegent posting is that you actually write with words. Again, keep the forum tidy and asthetically pleasing. Don't overuse smileys. Less is more.

12. Don't make a post all/mostly in capitals.

We can read it perfectly fine without, thankyou. Helps aid a non stressful atmosphere as well. And let's not forget the good old "keep the forum pretty" reason!

And there you have it, twelve rules to follow. All common sense really. If you guys have any suggestions on the rules, feel free to post here. If you have any problems with other users etc. report it to either myself or the other moderators.

Enjoy the forum!
