Why would you want to make "back up" accounts? They generally only lead to identity confusion anyway.

The purpose of the website isn't to let people watch my vids, but to download them. Plus, I put lots of stuff such as sims and patches on my site as well - a website is an excellent way to bring all the stuff I make together.

And the fact that it's just plain cool to my have own site

...However, I have a few questions:

First of all, how do you edit Final Fantasy VII for the PC. I managed to find a program called "Gast," which I've used to extract background artwork for use in my Civ III Final Fantasy mod (I used the actual Church Scene as the BG for the Cloud Strife leader animations, the interior of the top floor of the Shinra Building for the BG in the Rufus Shinra Animations, as well as a few other items here and there), but it is buggy at best and a real pain in the ass at worst...

Secondly, what do you use to record your in-game stuff into a format to be posted on YouTube? Inquiring minds would like to know (I'm thinking of doing a Final Fantasy VII take on the infamous "LEEEEEEROOOOOOY JEEEEENKIIINS!!!!!" video).

Also, what format are the 3D models in FF VII? I happen to have thre 3D apps that cover a wide range of possible 3D formats, and I'd be more than happy to help with some of your FF VII mod projects.

I've made tutorials showing how to edit/swap the models and how to edit the text (which is a piece of cake). You can find them both in the "downloads" section of my website: http://cutfilms.awardspace.com

I record all my FFVII videos using Fraps - a cheap and awesome piece of software for recording game footage. However, because FFVII is a pretty old game, Fraps has to record it using a very low frame rate, so you have to speed up the footage by about 1.6/1.7 times to get it to look like it's playing at a normal speed. Also, Fraps cannot record sound from FFVII (although, it works on more modern games perfectly) and so you have to mix sound and music yourself afterwards.

FFVII model files are in an obscure "P" format which I don't believe is compatible with any modelling software other then a free fan made program called "Kimera" - you can find download links in the field model tutorial. I don't believe there's any way of converting the FFVII models out of P format to be used for mods for other games. However, you can convert models that are compatible with 3DS Max into P format to use in a FFVII mod using a piece of fan made software that I can't remeber the name of.

I may end up going with CamStudio (which Sephiroth suggested in a different thread) for recording stuff. I finally found your tutorials, and from the looks of it, the way the models are put together (both field and battle-screen) is VERY similar to the way that Age of Empires III (Havoc II engine) models are set-up, so I should be able to apply some of my l337 AoE III modding skilz to FF VII modding.

Also, if I can find that other program you mentioned, stand by for some possible new 3D content for FF VII.... I'm in the process of upgrading Bryce 5 to Bryce 6.1, which will now allow me to collapse my Bryce boolean groups into editable meshes, which can then be exported as just about any commonly used 3D format (.3DS, .LWO, .OBJ, .DXF, etc).
